This is called swaddling and while it might look odd, nurses say it comforts an infant because it is reminiscent of a mother’s womb, and it gives the baby a strong sense of safety, security and familiarity. The video actually shows a technique called the double swaddle, and it’s very useful for a baby who wriggles out of a regular swaddle.
